Happy Birthday to You!
Tomorrow is Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary, one of the warriors of rationale thoughts and Saint fighting against superstitions and worthless religious rituals. Yet, his birth anniversary will mark as a gazetted holiday and those who are not his followers will enjoy it as another public holiday. Few of His followers were seen having blood bath in Gurudwara of Delhi and other property related gory cold murders.
India is a country where people love to die in intra-religious riots or inter-religious clashes, yet they enjoy public holiday in the name of messenger of non-violence Lord Mahavir or god of compassion Lord Buddha. There are numerous great people, saints and gods, demi-gods whose birth anniversary is celebrated as public holiday in schools, universities and sarkari offices, these men were very active in their life and sacrificed their comforts for future generations and government of India is mocking their great services to mankind. I am strictly against the public holiday on birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Ambedkar, Valmiki jayanti (a restricted holiday), etc., or other celebrations like Ram Navami and Krishna Janamashtami.
Supreme Court of India is a laughing stock that it enjoys most of the holidays in India not enjoyed by any other organizations, even more than the tiny toddlers of primary schools. It’s amazing that government institutions don’t work for more than 125 days including Saturdays and Sundays. You can check the list of gazetted and restricted holidays from this government portal.
